OUR SUPPORTERS AND COLLABORATORS

WE ARE FORTUNATE TO HAVE SOME INCREDIBLE ORGANISATIONS AND LOCAL BUSINESSES SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE TO HELP US ENSURE FOREST GAYTE PRIDE CONNECTS WITH THE COMMUNITY IN THE BEST WAY. WE ARE ALSO BLESSED WITH SOME INCREDIBLE LOCAL BUSINESSES WHO SUPPORT WHAT WE DO, RUN AND HELP BUILD EVENTS, AND WITHOUT WHOSE GENEROSITY WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO FUND THE WORK WE DO AND KEEP FOREST GAYTE GOING! ALONGSIDE THE LIKES OF GROVE GUEST HOUSE, THE GATE LIBRARY, FOREST GATE COMMUNITY GARDENS AND WOODGRANGE MARKET, THESE SUPPORTERS AND COLLABORATORS HELP TO MAKE FOREST GAYTE PRIDE HAPPEN.

STONEWALL

Stonewall was founded in 1989 by a small group of people who had been active in the struggle against Section 28 of the Local Government Act.

Section 28 was an offensive piece of legislation designed to prevent the so-called 'promotion' of homosexuality in schools; as well as stigmatising lesbian, gay and bi people, it galvanised the LGBT community.

The aim from the outset was to create a professional lobbying group that would prevent such attacks on lesbians, gay and bi people from ever occurring again. Stonewall has subsequently put the case for equality on the mainstream political agenda by winning support within all the main political parties and now has offices in England, Scotland and Wales.

We produce an annual celebration during pride month, as well as a variety of activities throughout the year in and around the UK, which also promote and advocate for the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual health and wellbeing of the communities we represent.

LONDON QUEER MUSLIMS

London Queer Muslims is the United Kingdom’s first Zikir & Islamic theology organisation run by and for queer Muslims. Their mission statement states that “Rather than accept “inclusion” or “integration” into endo-cisgendered and heteronormative spaces, we place a strong emphasis on trans, intersex, non-binary, homosexual, bisexual, pansexual and asexual leadership and participation. Our cisgendered and heterosexual allies are welcome too! By centralising the intersection of Queer and Muslim experiences in our group, we address some of the solutions queer muslims seek.” You can learn more about their Itjab workshops, Zikir circles, and the work they do in the community on their official WEBSITE

PRETTY DECENT BEER COMPANY

The Forest Gate locals create Pretty Decent in their Taproom. “We started The Pretty Decent Beer Company in order to leave an impact. We wanted to make the best beer we could, and do some decent things with the money spent drinking it. From day one we wanted to ensure we donated something from every beer to causes we thought make the world that little bit better. 15p out of a pint isn’t going to change the world, but it all adds up to being a Pretty Decent thing to do.”
